A catalytic converter plays a vital role in a car’s exhaust system by significantly reducing the level of harmful emissions produced by a car.
Find the right cat for your car by entering your vehicle’s registration number.
Catalytic converters are also known as catalysts or cats for short but they are all the same part. All the cats we sell are Type Approvedwhich means they meet the current legislation for replacement cats and TA approval ensures OE equivalent levels of emission reduction, noise, fuel economy and vehicle performance.
The engine management ‘MIL’ light coming on is often mistaken as a sign that that catalytic converter is faulty or needs replacing. Although on sometimes this can be the case, in the vast majority of situations there will be something else, possibly a module, pump, sensor or value within the engine management system that is causing the problem. If you’re not experienced yourself, it’s worth getting a local garage to diagnose the cause of any problems before replacing a catalytic converter if you believe it’s faulty.
If you’re fitting a new cat remember to always change the lambda sensor too!
