A belt tensioner works together with various other components in order to keep your car running. Specifically a belt tensioner ensures that the correct tension is maintained on your car’s various drive belts, serpentine belts and timing belts at all times, under different engine loads and at different speeds.
Belt tensioners are metal component that are spring loaded and fixed to the engine. Many of our timing belt kits also include a replacement belt tensioner but we also can supply them as individual components.
A worn belt tensioner will not provide the correct tension on the belt meaning it’s lifespan will be greatly reduced whilst also negatively affecting the belt’s performance. We suggest changing all accessory belt components, pulleys and belt tensioners at the same time as your belt is changed, this protects the warranty on your belt and will ensure you get the maximum lifespan from your new serpentine or v-belt.
Enter your vehicle details into the 'Find Car Parts' box to display belt tensioners to fit your car.
