Ignition leads can go by a few names – they can also be known as HT leads (the ‘HT’ stands for ‘high tension’), ignition cables, spark plug wires or spark plug cables. All do the same job of connecting the distributor to each spark plug, one ignition lead to each plug.
Ignition lead faults can develop due to wear over time or dirty connectors. Faulty ignition leads can cause starting problems, misfires and reduce fuel economy. They are quite easy to replace, just be sure to replace each lead one at a time to avoid getting mixed up.
